Valentine’s Day Elopements in the Midwest: Ideas for Eloping/Winter Destination Weddings in the Heartland USA

With Valentine’s Day falling on Saturday this year, it is a perfect weekend to elope. Various chapels and resorts in the Midwest offer romantic packages and assistance with last minute wedding plans.

The Chapel of Love at the Mall of America in Minneapolis

A popular vacation spot in the Midwest, the Mall of America is one of the largest malls in the United States. In addition to numerous shopping opportunities, the mall houses several eateries, movie theaters, a concert pavilion, indoor miniature golf and amusement park with carousel, roller coaster, ferris wheel and many other fun activities. It’s no wonder the Mall of America has become a favorite in the Midwest for destination weddings. The Chapel of Love (housed in the mall), offers many wedding package options. One can choose from packages that are very simple and intimate (just the two of you), or more elaborate and festive (with as many as seventy guests). Additionally, wardrobe for your wedding can be purchased or rented from the chapel or other retailers within the Mall of America. For lodging one can choose from an array of hotels within just a mile of the mall. Several of these offer special Mall of America packages including the Ramada Inn, Hilton and Holiday Inn and Suites.

Faith Christian Chapel in Davison, Michigan

The Frankenmuth area is picteresque in the winter time and an ideal place for an elopement. Located about an hour and a half from Detroit, those eloping to Frankenmuth can enjoy activities such as an indoor waterpark, Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, tasty German cuisine, and shopping at various specialty shops in downtown Frankenmuth. Faith Christian Chapel in Davison is only a few miles from Frankenmuth. All wedding arrangements can be handled by the chapel including officiation and music. One can have an intimate wedding, or one that includes friends and family (up to 40 guests). Some places to lodge include Zehnder’s Splash Village (a good choice for couples with children), Fairfield Inn and the Spring Hill Suites.

The Lazy Cloud Inn in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

Lake Geneva is a little over an hour from Milwaukee, and less than an hour west of both Racine and Kenosha. It is a beautifully secluded and romantic area; an absolutely perfect combination for eloping. The Lazy Cloud Inn provides the ambience for an extremely romantic winter wedding. The inn offers a special elopement package (for those keeping their nuptials a secret) or a small wedding package for those bringing along a few close friends and family.

Many other bed and breakfasts and country inns throughout the Midwest also offer special wedding packages. Some other favorite elopement and wedding destinations include the Wisconsin Dells (Wisconsin), Kohler (Wisconsin), Traverse City (Michigan) and Branson (Missouri).
